Towle Whitney designs and builds variable speed booster pump systems for Large facilities like Manufacturing facilities / Industrial plants /
Army bases of all sizes. Some of our recent projects are listed below. A small description of each project specifies the parameters of
plumbing setup, the  basis for booster system design and the information regarding the system that was installed:
Dormitories at Military Facility - Oklahoma
Newly constructed dormitories at this military training facility had
very low pressure from an on-site water tower. This situation had
to be addressed before the dormitories were opened.

Expert pump system designers at Towle Whitney designed a
Triplex booster system with a 100% redundancy. Seven such
systems were built and shipped within 2 weeks to help the client
meet a tight deadline. A system startup was performed on-site by
a Towle Whitney engineer, and personnel from the Army corp of
engineers verified each installation for satisfactory operation. The
system is currently in operation with a very low energy
consumption. The first pump handles all the off-peak demand
and the remaining two pumps operate only at peak demand in a
lead/lag sequence. The lead pumps alternate every 48 hours.

Military Training Facility - Maine
As construction came to the final stage at this military training
facility in Maine, it was observed that the water pressure on the
top floor of all buildings was unsatisfactory. The mechanical
contractor contacted the local Towle Whitney representative.

After gathering the plumbing and mechanical data for all the
buildings, Towle Whitney pump system experts designed a
HILO
Triplex booster system with a jockey pump and 100%
redundancy. Five such systems were built, one for each building.
A system startup was performed on-site by a Towle Whitney
engineer, and each installation was verified for satisfactory
operation by the mechanical contractor. The system is currently in
operation with a very low energy consumption. The first pump
handles all the off-peak demand and the remaining two pumps
operate only at peak demand in a hydraulic sequence. The
booster system is connected to the building management
system which monitors the booster system operation.

Food Processing Plant  - New Hampshire
During the expansion of a large food processing plant in New
Hampshire, the contractor was faced with low water pressure
situation in the newly built section of the plant. A large storage
tank along with pumps and VF drives was installed to resolve the
issue; however, not having been sized appropriately, this system
did not deliver the expected results.

The contractor approached Towle Whitney, having installed
another one of our systems on the main incoming line of the
plant. A high TDH [Total Dynamic Head]
HILO Triplex booster
system with a jockey pump and 100% redundancy was
recommended for this application. This system deliveres the high
pressure required for the wash down processes in the plant
while saving energy.
